Dr. Buckthal moved to Greensboro from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she was a Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and trained in the subspecialty of Dermatopathology. This additional training gives her unique insight into skin conditions, and allows her to interpret the skin biopsies performed at both the Newnan and Greensboro locations. She completed her Dermatology Residency at the University of Cincinnati, which is known for its rigorous clinical and surgical curriculum. Before that, she received a Bachelors of Science from Georgia Southern University's competitive Bell's Honors Program, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Medical College of Georgia, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Dr. Buckthal and her husband, Architectural Historian, Brandon McCuin, are excited to be back in Georgia to raise their young son, Aaron. With family in Eatonton, Savannah, Macon, St. Mary's, Vidalia and St. Simon's Island, settling in the Lake Oconee area is coming "home." They enjoy participating in outdoor recreation and community activities and can often be found gardening or jogging with their Border Collie mix, Baker.

Newnan Dermatology at Cowles Clinic is open Monday through Friday, with regular patient appointments available Monday through Thursday.
